project 365 // captions

Yes, a real post...about time, I know but there just hasn't been enough time! But it's the holidays now so lots of time for posting!!!!

One of my goals for 2015 is to create a photo a day book using this book from Kikki.K. This year so far has been really busy and having the challenge to take a photo everyday has made me look out for things I love and not just fall into the world of school work. For this project I've been partnering with Fuji Film NZ to bring to you endless ideas on creating your own photo a day challenge while I go about my own personal one.

So somehow we are 92 days into 2015 and my book now has 92 photos in it and that's such an achievement. I've taken a photo a day for 3 months and sometimes it's so hard but its so worth it and at the end of the year it will be even more worth it!

Today I'm going to show you how to caption your photos. Some prefer without captions as a photo is supposedly worth a thousand words but I like a small one, just to remember the moment or describe.

For my personal project, I am writing small captions on my photos in a fine pen. For me captions don't have to be a sentence, they can just be a phrase like "sodas + burgers" and some photos don't need captions at all.

You can also try mixing up the type and thickness of the pen that you use. As you can see I tried using a thicker pen on a couple of photos and they came out ok. But it needs to be what you prefer.

The placement of the caption is also something special. I always try and fit them into something - like I did with the sodas. I find a caption at the bottom just a bit boring and to be honest drawing on photos is so fun, Right? So don't be afraid to draw on them!

I also used a Kikki.K sticker book to create the label for the top left photo. Though I don't prefer this option, it still is very nice and for those of you who don't want to write on the actual photo, this could be a good option.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I know I enjoyed posting finally!

  3. I absolutely love this! Your captions are so cute, especially, and I love your handwriting.
I admire how you're aiming to embrace creativity and find fun and happy things even when you're surrounded by school work, that's one of my main motifs in life :) X

  4. Such a good idea! I'm tempted to do a picture a year from my birthday in June this year, until my next...next year.
